Safe Anchor Trust
..is an award winning charity based in Mirfield, West Yorkshire operating on the Aire & Calder and Calder & Hebble canals providing trips on the waterways particularly for special needs groups, those with health and mobility problems and socially disadvantaged groups
The Trust can also provide a working boat to make improvements to the towpaths and canal environment.
- To provide free access to the waterways for special needs groups
- To improve towpaths and canal side environment
- To contribute, with our partners in providing a safer environment by reducing the opportunities for crime
- To provide education and training opportunities for young people.
In 2009 the Trust carried over 15,000 passengers.
Our headquarters are fully accessible for wheelchairs. We have one boat for trips that is also accessible for up to three wheelchairs. On the boat there is a toilet which can be accessed by people with disabilities including wheelchair users.
