Docklands Canal BoatTrust
Docklands Canal BoatTrust ..is a Registered Charity and was formed in 1983 by a group of people who worked in the local communities that surrounded the River Thames and Docklands. Their purpose was to provide boating holidays and day trips for those with disabilities, their carers and support organisations on the River Lee, River Stort and London's waterways.
With this in mind they started fund raising and in January 1985 the Trust commissioned a purpose built boat, The boat was delivered in May 1985 and launched at Tilbury Docks where it went through extensive tests.
On 6th June 1985 the boat MV Challenge was officially commissioned in the presence of Princess Michael of Kent, many local dignitaries and all the apprentices from Hebburn.
Since then our boat has cruised the waterways of London, Essex and Hertfordshire providing memorable holidays and day trips for a wide range of groups and families with disabilities.
